I am currently playing in 3 different constellations;
- Toril Snyen – my band where I write my own material. Playing melodic pop/rock/synth together with Magnus Strandberg on guitar and Stefan Bjuvgård on drums.
- Jazz Mode – 80s and 90s hits in a new jazzy version together with Dan Eiderfors on piano and Stefan Bjuvgård on drums.
- SNY – my Synthpop/Electronica project
- I sing jazz as a freelance musician, and I sometimes play with Standard Selection, Mandagsklubben and have been playing in Jazzklubben in Visby and Gotland Jazz & Blues festival.
Background
I started early doing music as I come from a musical family and early on startet singing and playing theatre and my musical education. I played in a doom-metal band a couple of years in the 90´s and later I started singing jazz, bossa nova and electronica. I´ve had different musical interests, but the main inspirations are 80-s synth pop/rock such as Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Smiths. My female inspirations are Dalbello, Laurie Anderson, Tori Amos, Kate Bush and Sam Brown.
The contrasts, the changes and the tempo of the everyday countryside life has made new musical impacts.
Later years my music is strongly influenced by moving from Oslo to the Swedish island Gotland where the beautiful nature and medieval architecture is very prominent. But the strong influence from Metal/rock and electronica is more and more obvious in my songwriting and can be heard live.
